Bananas à la RZoe (10.15.26)
A recurring roundup of what I'm currently obsessed with in the vein of OG celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, who'd famously declare herself "bananas" for something she loved on her old reality show. Consider this my version of that RZoe energy.
Soera Faux Leather Top with Fringe
I was searching for where to buy L’Agence’s black faux leather fringe skirt but to no avail; it’s sold out everywhere. But this popped up in my feed and I happily scooped it up. It’s faux leather with a fun plastic fringe that reminds me of raffia. The color is flattering and the shape holds up. I’ve worn it so far to karaoke and out to dinner. I plan to wear it again this weekend at the Charli XCX concert! It’s not brat but I think it works well with Charli’s current aesthetic.
Lana Del Rey “Blue Jeans”
As mentioned above, I recently went to karaoke for the first time in two years. That’s a long break for me. As such I wasn’t ready to jump into Adele (no backup, please) after a quick warm up on Manic Monday per usual. Instead, I put into the queue “Blue Jeans,” a song I love to sing to in the car. But sadly we bailed before the song came on so the next day my kids have to suffer through me singing this song as they finished their homework. It’s still a good one!
Min Jin Lee’s American Hagwon
Summer feels officially over in LA, despite the high temps expected this weekend. That means saying goodbye to light (and sometimes trashy) summer reads for the time being and picking up American Hagwon, a book I’ve had on my list as soon as I had heard it was coming out. I devoured Lee’s previous book Pachinko and am so far really enjoying this new work. Set in Sydney, Seoul and Los Angeles around the time of the Asian financial crisis, it’s the story of a family reinventing themselves in desperate times. I’m 30% of the way through. I’ll report back when I’m finished.
